Job Title: 6G Welder – Tank Maintenance
Job Type: Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled 6G Welder to perform welding and maintenance work on storage tanks, pipelines, and associated structures. The ideal candidate should have expertise in 6G welding (all-position welding), experience with different welding techniques, and knowledge of safety regulations in confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform 6G welding (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, or GMAW) on tanks, pipes, and structural components.
- Conduct repairs, fabrication, and maintenance of storage tanks as per project requirements.
- Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials used in tank construction.
- Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings for precise execution.
- Conduct pre-weld inspections and prepare surfaces for welding, ensuring proper alignment.
- Perform weld quality checks (visual inspection, NDT, X-ray as needed).
- Adhere to safety standards, including confined space entry and hot work procedures.
- Operate welding and cutting equipment, including grinders, torches, and plasma cutters.
- Collaborate with other team members, including inspectors and supervisors.
- Maintain and clean welding equipment to ensure functionality.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification in 6G welding (ASME, AWS, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in tank maintenance, pipeline welding, or industrial welding.
- Proficiency in SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and FCAW (Flux-Core) welding processes.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and hazardous environments.
- Strong understanding of welding codes, standards (API 653, ASME Section IX), and procedures.
- Knowledge of NDT methods (Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle Testing).
- Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting and long working hours.
- Safety-conscious with a valid OSHA/HAZWOPER/Confined Space Entry certification (preferred).
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Work Conditions:
- Exposure to high temperatures, heavy machinery, and hazardous environments.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights using scaffolding or lifts.
- Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and shifts as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years of welding experience in tank maintenance or related industries.
- Experience working in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial settings.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: RM18.00 - RM20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 46 per week
