Job Summary:

The QA/QC Supervisor for Tank Maintenance Work is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of maintenance, repair, and inspection activities for storage tanks. This includes ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. The role involves conducting inspections, supervising quality control processes, and coordinating with project teams to maintain high-quality standards throughout the maintenance cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Assurance & Control:

  • Implement and enforce the QA/QC program for tank maintenance projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with project requirements, regulatory standards, and client specifications.
  • Develop, review, and implement Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and quality checks on materials, welding, coating, and repair work.
  • Ensure compliance with API 653, API 650, ASME, ASTM, and other relevant industry codes and standards.

2. Inspection & Testing:

  • Supervise and conduct inspections of tank structures, welds, coatings, and repairs.
  • Monitor non-destructive testing (NDT) such as UT, PT, MT, RT, and vacuum box testing.
  • Verify and approve materials, welding procedures, and painting/coating applications.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors and testing agencies.

3. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain records of quality inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCR).
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
  • Ensure proper documentation of welding logs, material traceability, and inspection records.
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation, including method statements and procedures.

4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions:

  • Investigate non-conformances and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement improvements.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure compliance and prevent recurrence.

5. Coordination & Communication:

  • Work closely with engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance and training to site personnel on quality control procedures.
  • Address and resolve quality-related issues promptly and efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA/QC supervision, specifically in tank maintenance, repairs, or fabrication.
  • Certifications:
  • API 653 (Tank Inspection) – preferred
  • AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) – preferred
  • NACE / BGAS (Coating Inspector) – preferred
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management certification – added advantage
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of API 650, API 653, ASME, and ASTM standards.
  • Experience in welding inspection, NDT techniques, and coating inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures.
  • Familiarity with material specifications, WPS/PQR, and welding defects.
  • Soft Skills:
