Job Title: Hole Watcher / Standby Person – Tank Maintenance

Job Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Hole Watcher / Standby Person to ensure the safety of personnel working inside confined spaces, such as storage tanks, during maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring entry and exit, maintaining communication with workers inside, and responding to emergencies as per safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control access to confined spaces, ensuring only authorized personnel enter.
  • Maintain continuous communication with workers inside the confined space.
  • Ensure all required permits, gas testing, and ventilation systems are in place before work begins.
  • Regularly check oxygen levels, toxic gases, and explosive hazards using gas detectors.
  • Alert workers and supervisors in case of hazardous conditions or emergencies.
  • Be prepared to initiate emergency rescue procedures if necessary.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by all personnel.
  • Keep accurate records of entry logs, work progress, and safety incidents.
  • Follow OSHA, HSE, and company safety policies for confined space entry.
  • Coordinate with the Fire Watcher, Safety Officer, and Rescue Team as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience as a Hole Watcher / Standby Person in industrial or tank maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of confined space entry procedures, hazards, and emergency response.
  • Familiarity with gas monitoring equipment (O2, CO, H2S, LEL detectors).
  • Strong communication and observation skills to ensure worker safety.
  • Ability to stay alert and focused for extended periods.
  • Physically fit and capable of responding to emergencies quickly.
  • Certification in Confined Space Entry & Rescue, OSHA, or HSE training (preferred).

Work Conditions:

  • Exposure to hazardous gases, high temperatures, and industrial environments.
  • Work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and shifts as needed.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Hole Watcher / Standby Person in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: RM16.00 - RM18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 46 per week
