Role Purpose

Responsible for overseeing the availability and distribution of spare materials and parts required for aircraft maintenance and operations. This role ensures that materials are available as needed, including during ad hoc situations, to support uninterrupted aircraft operations and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Aircraft Spare Materials Operations Manager works closely with maintenance, procurement, and logistics teams to manage inventory levels, coordinate supply chain activities, and respond to urgent material requests.

Key Accountability

  • Oversee the management and control of aircraft spare parts inventory to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Implement inventory tracking and management systems to maintain accurate records of spare parts.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure the timely availability of spare materials and parts to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to expedite orders and deliveries as needed.
  • Manage the allocation of spare parts during ad hoc and emergency situations to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Develop and implement procedures for responding to urgent and ad hoc material requests.
  • Establish a rapid response team and protocols to address emergency situations and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response actions and make improvements as necessary.
  • Lead and supervise a team of materials coordinators, inventory specialists, and logistics personnel.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure high standards of performance and compliance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify development opportunities for team members.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favourable terms and ensure reliable supply of materials.
  • Coordinate the logistics of transporting spare parts, including customs clearance and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Working Experience

  • SPM or Diploma in Engineering with more than 15 years of working experience.
  • Hold B1 or B2 on Aircraft Maintenance Certification.

Areas of Experience

  • Working experience in MRO, Production, or a related work environment of an aviation organization in Engineering & Maintenance including MAB's Fleet checks and experience in 3rd party aircraft maintenance.
  • Working experience in MRO, Production, or a related work environment of an aviation organization in Engineering & Maintenance including MAB's Fleet checks and experience in 3rd Maintenance Planning and Production control.

Personality Traits / Skill and Knowledge

  • Ability to understand aircraft technical terms and understand engineering documents, familiar with aircraft type, knowledge with Part M requirement and aircraft maintenance program including aircraft
  • Manuals and Company Procedures.
  • Expected to complete work to deadlines, must therefore manage the time of the teams and prioritise work so that projects are completed to deadline.
  • The main line of contact between the frontline staff, senior management, and clients. Responsible for keeping everybody informed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with internal party and external party when dealing with aircraft Redelivery.
  • Responsible for organising the department and sections, implementing processes and guides, and outlining what needs doing.
