Responsibility

  • The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities within a facility or organization.
  • This role involves assisting with team leadership, maintenance planning and scheduling, equipment maintenance and repair, safety and compliance, budget management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Planning and supervising the upkeep, repair, and continuous improvement of the facility's infrastructure and utility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • To carry out duties not listed above as and when directed by his superior if circumstances warrant so.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support Maintenance Operations:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in leading and supervising the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance activities as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.

2. Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:

  • Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance tasks, corrective repairs, and equipment inspections, to ensure optimal equipment reliability and availability.
  • Coordinate with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Help maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history using maintenance management software or other tools.

3. Safety and Compliance:

  • Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations governing maintenance operations.
  • Assist in conducting safety inspections, audits, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety protocols, procedures, and emergency response plans.

4. Budget Management:

  • Assist in managing the maintenance department budget by tracking expenses, monitoring resource utilization, and identifying cost saving opportunities.
  • Help with procurement processes, including sourcing parts and supplies, obtaining quotes from vendors, and managing inventory levels to support maintenance activities cost-effectively.

5. Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance processes, streamline workflows, and improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist in implementing best practices, innovative technologies, and performance metrics to drive operational excellence and achieve maintenance goals.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaboration efforts to support a culture of continuous improvement.

Competency Required

Education

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • 5 years of technical experience with minimum of 3 years experience in FMCG manufacturing plant.
  • Knowledge in rotating equipment, automation, electrical, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience in the areas of Preventive Maintenance planning and management, Equipment Repair & Maintenance management, and Spare Parts Management.

Skill

  • Strong communication, negotiation, problem solving, analysis and decision making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, EHceI) and Autocad.
  • Good leadership and people management skills.
