JOB SUMMARY
For the Chemical Engineering position at the School of Chemical Engineering and Science, we seek candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an outstanding research record.
Key Responsibilities
- Ongoing development of curriculum and instructional material for different programs and levels.
- Convene unit of studies and conduct learning and teaching activities including lectures, tutorials (or laboratories), and assessment of students’ learning to ensure a high standard of quality in the learning and teaching process.
- Provision of consultation and mentoring to students.
- Continuous development of teaching, training, and mentoring expertise.
- Expansion and development of the various learning and teaching activities of the Faculty.
- Development of a portfolio of activities supporting research and scholarship.
- Supervision of honours and postgraduate (including doctoral) students.
- Contribution to research training activities, development of research groups within the Faculty and collaborative research networks.
- Maintenance of high academic and professional standards in all areas of activity.
- Administration and development of the learning programs offered by the Faculty.
- Professional engagement with business and industry, in fields relevant to the Faculty.
- Leadership in academic and professional activities and community affairs relevant to the Faculty.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related discipline.
- First degree in Chemical Engineering from a Washington Accord-recognised institution is required.
- Registration with a professional body such as the Board of Engineers Malaysia is required.
- Documented and solid background in either (1) catalysis and chemical reaction engineering, (2) sustainable materials development for clean energy applications, or (3) electrochemistry
- Proven track record of substantial research output and significant impact.
- Proven expertise and professional experience in Chemical Engineering and/or relevant areas.
- 2-3 years experience in teaching or training in higher education in a relevant discipline is desirable.
- Active involvement in professional organisations or societies related to Chemical Engineering is an added advantage
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
