Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO)

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and providing regular updates to the Board of Governors, the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) is responsible for the strategic development and execution of the university's business development and growth initiatives. This role encompasses overseeing marketing, business development, corporate communications, finance, and IT functions, with a focus on identifying target markets, developing pricing strategies, and implementing sales and marketing plans to drive student recruitment and revenue growth. This position requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in marketing, operational management, and stakeholder engagement, ideally within the higher education sector, who will contribute directly to the university’s mission of educational excellence.

General Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; a Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in sales and marketing, with a proven track record of success in the higher education sector.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a marketing or operational management role within a university or similar organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing data-driven marketing strategies that achieve measurable results.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and data analytics tools.
  • Proven experience in channel development and B2B business development is highly desirable.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to advancing Perdana University’s mission of educational excellence.
  • Fluent in English, both conversation and writing.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategy to promote Perdana University’s programs, brand, and reputation both locally and internationally.
  • Lead the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, including targeted digital advertising, content marketing, and impactful social media strategies, to attract prospective students and enhance engagement with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute targeted recruitment campaigns, ensuring alignment with the university’s enrollment goals and achieving measurable results.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and student demographics to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, implementing strategies to optimize resource allocation and maximize ROI through data-driven performance analysis.
  • Lead the development of high-quality marketing collateral, including brochures, websites, and promotional videos, ensuring consistency with the university’s brand guidelines.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with media, industry partners, and alumni to amplify the university’s visibility and reputation.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and optimize performance.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Contribute to the development of the university's strategic plan, aligning business development initiatives with long-term institutional goals.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making across all university operations.
  • Represent the university in external forums, conferences, and partnerships to enhance its reputation and influence in the education sector.
  • Provide regular reports and strategic recommendations to the Board of Governors on operational performance, marketing outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
  • Operational Management:
  • Lead and empower the Sales and Marketing team, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals and driving performance through clear objectives and performance metrics.
  • Develop and optimize operational workflows and processes across the Sales and Marketing functions, streamlining delivery and maximizing productivity.
  • Champion operational innovation by identifying and implementing best practices, leveraging technology, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and international institutions.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, conducting market research and feasibility studies.
  • Facilitate business growth by collaborating with clients and business partners (JV partners, agents, government agencies, schools, etc.).
  • Build and maintain high-level contacts with current and prospective partners

Pay: RM12,000.00 - RM18,000.00 per month
