Client & Project Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with a specialization in Networking to join our Cloud Engineering team supporting the Google Workspace Support project for our client. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, cloud-native environment, ensuring optimal network performance, security, and scalability across cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cloud Engineer (Network Specialization), you will:
Specialize in cloud networking components, including container networking, service meshes, and load balancing across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Respond to, diagnose, resolve, and track customer support queries and community support cases through phone, email, and chat.
Utilize troubleshooting tools and techniques to establish root causes for queries and provide customer-facing root cause assessments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize network performance, latency, and scalability.
Conduct internal classification queries to document problem categories and preventative actions for future analysis.
Reactively file issue reports to Level 3 support, build documentation, procedures, and provide recommendations for code-level resolutions of complex product bugs.
Perform community management tasks and contribute to technical forums as required by the business.
Handle customer-specific requirements related to architectural design, providing solutions within specific product domains.
Contribute to the development and implementation of network automation strategies using cloud-native tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
For Analyst Minimum 2 years of experience in cloud engineering roles with a strong focus on networking technologies and cloud environments.
For Team Lead/Consultant Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering roles with a strong focus on networking technologies and cloud environments
Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes networking, service mesh solutions such as Istio, and cloud-native networking components.
Strong understanding of load balancers, routing protocols, and network traffic optimization in cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container networking at an advanced level.
Experience with cloud PaaS solutions and the ability to understand and debug application code.
Proficiency in using packet capture and analysis tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.
Familiarity with cloud storage products and PaaS offerings across major cloud providers.
Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, or Google Cloud Certified are a major plus.
Mastery - Orange Belt (if applicable).
Technical Skills:
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (specialization in at least one).
- Networking:
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.).
Cloud load balancers and traffic routing – Advanced.
Service meshes such as Istio – Advanced.
Container networking – Advanced.
Systems architecture and cloud infrastructure – Advanced.
Troubleshooting and monitoring using tcp dump, Wireshark – Advanced.
Containers & Orchestration:
Docker – Intermediate.
Kubernetes – Advanced.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for cloud networking deployments.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages for network automation.
Hands-on experience with cloud security principles related to network segmentation, firewalls, and zero-trust architectures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide architectural recommendations and design scalable network solutions tailored to business needs.
Document technical solutions, troubleshooting guides, and best practices for cloud networking.
Collaborate with cloud operations and development teams to enhance application network performance.
