The Clerk of Work (COW) is responsible for overseeing site activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, approved drawings, and local building regulations. The role requires daily site inspections, reporting non-compliance, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring construction progress aligns with the project schedule.

Key Responsibilities1. Site Supervision & Quality Control

  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure that construction work meets approved specifications, design drawings, and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and report defects, non-conformance, or poor workmanship to the Project Manager/Consultant.
  • Verify that materials used comply with approved samples and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality assurance policies.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Keep daily records of work progress, issues, weather conditions, and site observations.
  • Assist in preparing site reports, progress reports, and photographic documentation.
  • Provide updates to the Project Manager, consultants, and developers on site activities and any potential delays or issues.
  • Attend site meetings and coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensure that construction activities comply with local authority regulations, including those from CIDB, DOSH, and local councils.
  • Assist in site audits and inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure that contractors follow safety procedures, including PPE compliance and safe work practices.

4. Coordination & Issue Resolution

  • Act as a liaison between contractors, consultants, and the developer to address site issues.
  • Provide technical support to the contractor to resolve on-site technical and construction challenges.
  • Verify that rectification works are completed as per instructions before handing over to the client.

5. Defects & Handover Management

  • Conduct pre-handover defects inspections (joint inspections with consultants and developers).
  • Ensure defects are rectified before handing over the project.
  • Assist in final site inspections and the issuance of Certificate of Practical Completion (CPC).

Requirements & QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in site supervision, preferably in property development or construction projects.
  • Experience with high-rise buildings, landed properties, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, and specifications.
  • Familiar with construction laws, regulations, and standards in Malaysia (e.g., CIDB, DOSH, UBBL).
  • Ability to identify defects and ensure quality control in construction works.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and site reporting software.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and coordination skills to liaise with contractors, consultants, and developers.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to resolve on-site issues.
  • Proactive, responsible, and highly disciplined in handling site matters.

Other Requirements

  • Possession of a CIDB green card is an advantage.
  • Willing to travel and work long hours on-site.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
