About the Role

We are looking for a “Chapter Lead Software Engineer” to join our Data and Services (D&S) tribe at SWIFT, covering Screening and Transaction Data portfolios.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be working as a member of an agile dynamic team that is responsible for end-to-end delivery; from customer engagement to operations. Our D&S tribe operates in a truly agile way. You will have a unique opportunity to expand your reach in terms of knowledges and network, and to build your expertise through SWIFT’s global platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Hiring, Coaching, and Mentorship: Build a team of engineers with diverse perspectives, providing ongoing coaching and motivation to ensure they excel both technically and personally.
• Collaboration and Team Alignment: Work closely with Product Owners and Engineering Leads to align chapter members with cross-functional squads, ensuring effective collaboration across teams.
• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on software design patterns, architecture, and engineering best practices to enhance the quality of solutions.
• Continuous Learning and Knowledge Sharing: Promote a culture of shared knowledge, transversal consistency, and excellence across chapters, ensuring that learning and development are ongoing.
• Driving innovation: Stay ahead of technology trends and help your team adopt new tools and methodologies.
• Performance and Growth: Set annual objectives for chapter members, conduct performance appraisals, and provide constructive feedback to support career development and skills enhancement.


What will make you successful?

Professional skills

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on promoting a diverse and collaborative culture
• 2 years of leadership experience, managing and mentoring technical teams
• Passion for people development and a deep commitment to create a collaborative and inclusive work environment
• Customer oriented and quality mind-set; we continually strive to deliver customer value
• Open-minded, solutions oriented, and a team player; gaining energy through collaboration with others
• Familiar with Agile, DevOps mind-set and practices
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Any business knowledge or experience in Sanctions and/or Transaction Data is an asset

Technical skills

• Strong experience (8 years) with Java, Spring, Docker, and containerization technologies is required.
• Practical experience of SQL databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, …) including data modelling is recommended.
• Practical experience with software development tools and CI/CD technologies (GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Ansible) is recommended.
• Practical experience with Angular web applications is an asset.
• Practical experience with Automated Testing for web applications is an asset.
