POSITION PURPOSE This position is primarily required to provide support to conduct the data collection at Segamat sub- district for the Climate and Health research project. This position requires the person to work closely with the Technical Officer to ensure high quality reliable data collection. The position is based at South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO) field site in Segamat, Johor. Reporting line: The position reports to Technical Officer under close supervision (HEW 1-2) Supervisory responsibilities: Not applicable Financial delegation: Not applicable Budget responsibilities: Not applicable KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Collect high quality data through community-based surveys by house-to-house visits / via phone call or any other method. 2. Assist with logistical and administrative support of data collection & SEACO functions and events. 3. Be responsible to achieve the target given and successful completion of a project as assigned 4. Maintain all data collection resource and IT equipment 5. Ensure all documentation for the assigned area is completed in a timely manner and within expected standard of quality. 6. Able to work independently with minimal supervision & able to provide timely reports to line supervisors. 7. Effectively communicate SEACO’s vision and project information to respondents & persistent in managing household refusals and rejections. 8. Perform others job related duties as required (from Field operations or others unit) KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Education / Qualifications SPM / STPM level of qualification or relevant experience in conducting surveys or related community activities. Knowledge and Skills 1. Good command of Bahasa Malaysia (Tamil or Hokkien is an advantage) 2. Good communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Ability to work effectively in a team & has good discipline toward work. 4. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 5. Previous experience in data collection is desirable. 6. Able to multitask and manage multiple projects on tight deadlines. Desirable 1. Basic computing especially word processing and electronic surveys. OTHER JOB RELATED INFORMATION Willing and able to work on weekends to cover events from time to time. Willing and able to travel to liaise with community members and local stakeholders. Taking leave may be restricted during peak periods of work. Work outside of normal business hours may be required. Willing to be based in Segamat
