Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Engineer to design, implement, and support fiber optic network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber network planning, installation, splicing, and testing, with a solid understanding of industry best practices and standards. The Fiber Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our fiber optic networks. Key Responsibilities: Design and plan fiber optic networks, including route engineering, link budgets, and capacity planning. Perform site surveys and field assessments to support project planning and network design. Oversee or perform fiber splicing, termination, and OTDR testing activities. Prepare and maintain detailed network documentation, including fiber as-builts, splicing records, and redlines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as project managers, construction teams, and subcontractors. Troubleshoot and resolve fiber network faults, outages, and performance issues. Ensure all fiber network installations comply with industry standards, local regulations, and customer requirements. Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases. Assist in material selection and procurement of fiber cables, closures, panels, and other related equipment. Support network upgrades, maintenance, and expansion activities. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience as a Fiber Engineer or in a similar role within fiber optic network deployment. Strong knowledge of fiber optic theory, network design, splicing techniques, and testing tools (OTDR, power meters, VFL). Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation. Familiarity with fiber optic construction methods (aerial, underground, and inside plant). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Proficient in using design and GIS tools (AutoCAD, Visio, or similar platforms). Willingness to work in both office and field environments. Preferred Qualifications: FOA CFOT or other relevant fiber certifications. Knowledge of permitting and right-of-way requirements. Experience working with FTTx, backbone, and long-haul fiber networks.
