
Construction Manager
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager with expertise in 132KV substations to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of high-voltage substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical infrastructure, project management, and construction supervision, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead the construction of 132KV substations, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines.
- Develop and implement project execution plans, resource allocation, and work schedules.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progression.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance with standards.
- Supervise civil, electrical, and mechanical works related to the substation construction.
- Ensure the installation of transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, control panels, and other substation components meets design and safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site in coordination with engineers and consultants.
- Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and work procedures.
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation measures are in place.
- Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes, ISO standards, and industry best practices.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage on-site teams, including supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular progress meetings and provide reports to senior management.
- Budget & Cost Control:
- Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and material procurement.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials and avoid project delays.
Work Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on 132KV substations.
- Proven experience in substation installation, commissioning, and project execution.
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
- Familiarity with contract management, procurement, and project budgeting.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
- Experience working with utilities, power distribution companies, or EPC contractors.
