Cancer Information Service (CIS) Senior Executive
Job Description
The Cancer Information Service (CIS) is a primarily phone and email cancer helpline system that exists to empower and support people affected by cancer, as well as the general public. The CIS’ key focus is on answering questions, giving information, explaining meaning and helping people put their situation into context. There may also be a degree of emotional support. As a CIS Senior Executive you will be leading the operations of the CIS and handling enquiries from cancer affected peoples and the general public on related matters. Your duty is to ensure the CIS operates effectively which may include overseeing the duties of other members of the CIS, reporting on CIS matters to management, establishing and maintaining relations with internal and external stakeholders and managing the production of CIS materials.
Responsibilities
Manage the Society’s Cancer Information Service (CIS), including:
- Leading the operations of the CIS including delegation of duties as necessary
- Overseeing the management of CIS enquiries as necessary including providing information and emotional support for people affected with cancer, as well as referring them to the appropriate support service,
- Assess, improve, and maintain the set up and operations of the CIS including the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and publicity for the CIS,
- Managing the tracking and preparation statistics on CIS enquiries
- Overseeing the maintenance of the database of cancer resources across Malaysia and NCSM’s patient electronic medical record system,
- To oversee the training relevant staff and volunteers on the use of NCSM’s patient electronic medical record system,
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in psychology, social work, healthcare or similar fields
- Background and experience working in the field of mental health, social work or cancer care for at least 2 years
- Ability to converse and write in both English and Bahasa Malaysia fluently, additional languages will be an added advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Strong note-taking and record-keeping skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in leading a team, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability in being professional and ethical in handling sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner
Desirable
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Tamil
- Proficiency in Microsoft office and Google suites, experience in data management systems are an added advantage
- Experience working in telephone based service delivery
- Experience working in an NGO or a non-profit
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
