Job Summary:

The Gym Manager & Trainer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the university gym, ensuring a safe, clean, and motivating environment for students, staff, and members. This role involves managing gym facilities, training and coaching members, designing fitness programs, and promoting health and wellness within the university community.

Key Responsibilities:1. Gym Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the gym, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Manage gym equipment, ensuring proper functionality and scheduling maintenance or repairs when needed.
  • Enforce gym rules and regulations, promoting a safe and inclusive workout environment.
  • Handle memberships, scheduling, and record-keeping for gym users.
  • Coordinate with university administration on budgeting, procurement, and facility improvements.

2. Fitness Training & Coaching:

  • Design and implement personalized fitness programs for students and staff based on individual needs and goals.
  • Conduct group fitness classes, personal training sessions, and wellness workshops.
  • Provide guidance on proper exercise techniques, injury prevention, and rehabilitation support.
  • Monitor and assess members’ progress, offering motivation and adjustments as needed.

3. Health & Wellness Promotion:

  • Organize health and wellness programs, fitness challenges, and awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborate with student affairs and academic departments to integrate fitness initiatives into university activities.
  • Educate students and staff on nutrition, mental well-being, and overall lifestyle improvement.

4. Customer Service & Engagement:

  • Maintain positive relationships with gym members, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Address member concerns, inquiries, and feedback in a professional manner.
  • Develop marketing strategies to increase gym participation and engagement.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Fitness Management, or a related field.
  • Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or equivalent fitness certification from a recognized body (ACE, NASM, ISSA, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in gym management and personal training.
  • Strong knowledge of fitness training techniques, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire members.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience in organizing fitness events, challenges, or wellness programs.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary planning for fitness and health improvement.
  • Proficiency in gym management software and membership tracking systems.
  • Passion for health, fitness, and promoting an active lifestyle within the university community.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,331.33 - RM5,000.00 per month
