Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Molding Process Expert to oversee, optimize, and troubleshoot our injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion molding processes for plastic manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for enhancing production efficiency, reducing defects, and implementing advanced molding techniques to ensure high-quality plastic components. This role requires deep expertise in thermoplastics, composite materials, mold design, and process automation to support sustainable and high-performance manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: 1. Molding Process Optimization & Troubleshooting - Oversee the setup, operation, and optimization of injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion molding processes. - Analyze and fine-tune molding parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, cooling, and injection speed) to ensure stable production with minimal defects. - Troubleshoot and resolve molding defects such as warping, flash, short shots, sink marks, surface imperfections, and dimensional inconsistencies. - Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to ensure consistent production quality and efficiency. - Improve cycle times, cooling strategies, and mold durability to enhance productivity. 2. Material Selection & Process Adaptation - Collaborate with material scientists and R&D teams to evaluate, test, and optimize material formulations for different molding applications. - Assess the compatibility of recycled plastics, bio-based polymers, and engineered resins for molding processes. - Optimize molding techniques to accommodate new materials while maintaining high precision and durability. 3. Molding Tooling & Equipment Maintenance - Assist in the design, development, and selection of molds, ensuring high precision, durability, and long lifespan. - Monitor mold wear and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend mold life. - Work with tooling engineers to develop customized mold solutions for complex plastic components. 4. Automation & Advanced Manufacturing - Implement robotic automation, smart sensors, and Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce human error. - Optimize molding machine programming and parameter settings for increased repeatability and precision. - Integrate real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance systems to detect potential failures before they impact production. 5. Quality Assurance & Compliance - Ensure all molded products meet strict quality standards and customer specifications. - Conduct material and product testing, including mechanical, thermal, and dimensional analysis. 6. Technical Training & Cross-Team Collaboration - Train production staff, machine operators, and junior engineers on molding best practices and troubleshooting techniques. - Work closely with R&D, quality control, production, and supply chain teams to enhance product performance and manufacturing efficiency. - Collaborate with external suppliers and customers to optimize molding processes and material selection. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Technology, or related fields. - Minimum 5 years in plastic molding process development, troubleshooting, and optimization. - Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, engineering plastics, elastomers, and composite materials. - Hands-on experience with injection molding, blow molding, extrusion molding, and thermoforming. - Expertise in mold design, tooling maintenance, and process automation.
