JOB SUMMARY: The Paper Mill Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in paper manufacturing. This role ensures that all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and reliably to maintain high production output and minimize downtime. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Mechanical System Design & Optimization: - Design, analyze, and improve mechanical systems in paper manufacturing, including pulping, pressing, drying, and finishing machines. - Optimize machine efficiency, roller alignment, steam systems, and thermal transfer processes. - Implement modifications to improve machine speed, precision, and energy efficiency. 2) Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: - Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans to minimize equipment failures. - Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in gears, bearings, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. - Monitor and improve vibration analysis, lubrication systems, and wear-resistant components. 3) Installation & Commisioning: - Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new machinery and mechanical components. - Ensure proper integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems into production lines. - Work with equipment suppliers to evaluate and select advanced mechanical technologies. 4) Safety & Compliance: - Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and industry mechanical safety regulations. - Conduct risk assessments and implement mechanical safety measures in machine operation. - Train maintenance staff on the safe handling and repair of mechanical systems. 5) Technical Documentation & Reporting: - Maintain detailed records of machine performance, maintenance schedules, and failure analysis. - Prepare reports on efficiency improvements, cost savings, and mechanical upgrades. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless mechanical and production integration. REQUIREMENT: - Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any related fields. - Experience: 5 years or more in paper mill machinery, industrial mechanical system, or heavy manufacturing. - Knowledge of rotating equipment, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural mechanics. - Hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam-powered machinery. - Familiarity with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) and CAD Software. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in steam boiler system, heat exchangers, mechanical automation. - Knowledge of paper manufacturing processes and industry best practices. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a high-speed industrial environment.
