- The FP&A Centre of Excellence (COE) at Smith & Nephew strives to deliver high-quality insights and performance management, supporting the company's Life Unlimited purpose. The International Business Unit Cluster FP&A Analyst provides decision support and understanding to senior cluster leadership, handling core FP&A and commercial activities. Reporting to the FP&A Director – Global Orthopedics Business Unit, the role requires teamwork across Controllers & GBS, leveraging technology and robust processes for end-to-end finance delivery. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a partnership mindset are essential for success in this matrix organization.
What will you be doing?
- Serve as the primary FP&A contact for Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines (VIP), Singapore Domestic ensuring financial oversight and strategic support for these newly established markets
- Contribute to the execution, consolidation, and reporting of budgeting, forecasting, and actual financial processes. Partner with the ASEAN FBP and FP&A Lead to ensure the achievement of short- and long-term financial targets
- Track and evaluate performance against financial targets outlined in annual budgets, forecasts and strategic plans, identifying deviations and recommending corrective action
- Lead performance appraisal processes, including budget reviews, forecast updates, and actual performance analysis. Present financial results and projections to finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with the ASEAN FBP and FP&A Lead to ensure consistency and alignment in financial analysis, reviews and decision-making.
- Conduct in-depth analyses to provide actionable insights, quantify opportunities, and mitigate risks affecting business performance like expense reviews, excess and obsolete calculations, assist in MAPS control reviews and assessments
- Represent finance in cross-functional discussions, contributing to strategic and operational planning, support functional teams for Budget, Forecast, Actuals reviews and analysis
- Build and enhance the commercial team’s understanding of sales, pricing trends, expense trends, accruals, margins and overall P&L
- Provide support for key commercial initiatives including pricing strategies, and ROI
- Transfer pricing – support Controllers/RTR team on compliance with transfer pricing regulations and working with Global tax team on related matters and workings on prices, Transfer price audit and preparing details and reviewing the workings.
- Assist with sales incentive calculations and policy reviews for the respective markets based on the criteria laid down in the incentive policies.
What will you need to be successful?
- The ideal candidate should hold a degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, with a CPA or ACCA certification preferred but not required. They should have 3-5 years of experience in commercial finance or FP&A, with a comprehensive understanding of full P&L support. Prior experience in the healthcare industry and supporting senior business leadership teams in strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (such as SAP and Oracle), consolidation/BI systems, and planning tools (specifically TM1 and Hyperion/HFM) is essential. Sophisticated Excel skills are vital to handle and lead data efficiently. The candidate must possess outstanding strategic, numerical, and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Key proficiencies include the ability to develop long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders, expertise in transformation, project, and change management within a finance business partnering environment, and the ability to influence and communicate credibly at a senior level. The candidate should be capable of working independently across multiple initiatives, driving continuous improvement, and authoritatively challenging the business when appropriate.
