CABLE EXTRUSION ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY: As a Cable Extrusion Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the extrusion process in the production of various types of cables. You will work closely with the material selection team, quality control, and production teams to ensure that the cables are produced efficiently, meet performance standards, and comply with both internal and external regulations. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: 1) Extrusion Process Management: - Operate and oversee the extrusion machines used in the manufacturing of power, communication, and specialty cables. - Set up and optimize extrusion parameters such as temperature, pressure, and extrusion speed to ensure consistent and high-quality output. - Monitor and adjust machine settings as required during production to maintain quality and performance. 2) Material Handling and Coordination - Coordinate with the material science team to ensure proper selection of polymers and other materials for the extrusion process. - Work closely with the Polymer Engineers to determine the correct formulations and processing conditions for each type of cable. - Ensure the proper handling and feeding of materials into the extrusion machine. 3) Quality Control and Testing: - Conduct periodic tests on the extruded cables to ensure they meet specifications, including tests for insulation thickness, electrical resistance, and mechanical properties. - Work with the quality control team to identify defects such as inconsistencies, air pockets, or surface defects, and implement corrective actions. - Monitor the quality of the final product in terms of flexibility, insulation integrity, and durability. 4)Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: - Identify and resolve technical issues related to extrusion machinery or the extrusion process that may lead to defects or delays in production. - Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and work with maintenance teams to ensure minimal downtime. - Analyze data and feedback to make continuous improvements to the extrusion process and reduce waste. 5) Process Optimization and Efficiency: - Optimize the extrusion process to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize energy consumption. - Collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements, new technology, or innovations to enhance extrusion performance. - Monitor the consistency and quality of the extrusion output to ensure it meets the required industry standards. 4) Safety and Compliance: - Ensure the extrusion process is carried out in compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations. - Monitor the safety performance of machines and work areas, ensuring that all equipment is operated safely and that the team follows proper safety procedures. - Maintain an organized and clean workspace, adhering to the company’s safety standards and environmental regulations. 5) Documentation and Testing: - Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production schedules, material batches, and quality tests. - Provide detailed reports on production performance, quality issues, and improvements. - Assist with troubleshooting reports and documentation for continuous improvement initiatives. REQUIREMENT AND QUALIFICATION: - Studu program degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related fields. EXPEREICE: - 5 years of experience in cable extrusion, polymer processing, or related fields within the manufacturing or industrial sector. - Hands-on experience with extrusion machines, understanding of processing techniques, and materials science. SKILL: - Strong understanding of extrusion processes, machine operations, and material handling. - Familiarity with cable manufacturing standards and quality control processes. - Ability to troubleshoot extrusion machines and resolve technical problems efficiently. - Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. - Good communication skills to work effectively with various teams.
