Job Description

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring that all areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. This role involves managing housekeeping staff, coordinating cleaning schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of housekeeping staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Schedule staff shifts and assign specific tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to housekeeping staff to promote high standards of cleanliness and service.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities to ensure cleanliness and adherence to company standards.
  • Address any cleanliness issues or guest complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure consistent service delivery.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Place orders for cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of all materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory usage and costs.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure all cleaning procedures comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Train staff on safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Guest Interaction:

  • Respond to guest requests and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Foster a positive environment that promotes guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in preparing departmental budgets and managing expenses.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, payroll, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special events or projects.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality management or related field is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, as well as safety and sanitation regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Work may be performed in various settings, including hotel rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials.

Certifications:

  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
