The Logistics and Equipment/Material Manager reports to the Construction Manager. He/She is responsible for the coordination, storage, and movement of materials and equipment at the construction site.

The role requires ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods, equipment, and resources, contributing to the timely and successful completion of the construction project and is responsible for tracking, managing the delivery, oversee/ manage international shipping, verify the physical condition of the equipment on site delivery, at port if required, plan for temporary holding at (off-site/ site) laydown area, manage traffic flow at the laydown areas to avoid bottlenecks, plan temporary holding/ storage as per project schedule/ priority, manage the logistics/ traffic flow at the site and laydown areas, facilitate the good condition of site access/ access from port to site if required, oversee the unloading till placement of the equipment at the final location.

Responsibilities but not limited to the following:

  • Work with project stakeholders to address and resolve product related issues with Clients, Owner’s Representatives, Architects, Consultants, General Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Inspectors.
  • Review material/equipment packages for compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Attend project and vendor site visits to review Factory Witness Tests on products, if required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations regarding the use of equipment.
  • Monitor the worksite to identify potential hazards related to logistics and equipment use, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Create and maintain equipment tracking log
  • Participate in project close-out process and evaluate information to ensure compliance with contract documents, including preparation of final records for project such as close-out records, warranties, as-builts, Operations & Maintenance manuals (O&Ms), attic stock, and spare parts.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers to visit site and conduct a thorough survey including gate access width and height, turning radius, adequate soil compaction/ consolidation, sufficient head room during movement below overhanging steel/ concrete structures before bringing in the equipment at site.
  • Oversee and plan to receive/ unloading/handling/ storage of the equipment/ skids/containers in a manner conducive to the sequence of installation of equipment/skid/modules/assemblies or the project execution plan/ schedule.
  • Review and advise on the material management plan submitted by the GC/ sub-contractors/ any stakeholders
  • Ensure a tagging/ labelling process to ensure sequential installation of equipment/ module/assemblies/ skids etc.
  • Oversee supply chain management including procurement, inventor and logistics as per project schedule and priority.
  • Risk management with ability to identify, analyze and mitigate risks in regards to material procurement, equipment delivery and project timeline.
  • Oversee the warranty terms and conditions of all the equipment. including Long Lead Equipment (LLE) and Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE).
  • Oversee the handling of the equipment during/post installation and handing over to the operations team.
  • Notify to the equipment supplier/integrator etc. on any defects during the delivery of the equipment.
  • Any other duties assigned by his/her superior.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, Supply Chain, or related field, with minimum of 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Familiar with wide range of construction equipment/ skids/ assemblies/ modules (e.g., Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical).
  • Familiar with engineering principles and techniques, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and basic understanding of construction accounting procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Able to work with minimum information and quickly develop understanding of owner/architect requirements.
  • Strong project management skills to anticipate threats/ opportunities, flag risks before time and resolve issues/ obstacles to facilitate on time or advanced project delivery.
  • Project manage competing demands and meet established deadlines.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, and collaborative tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
