Job Purpose:
To lead the operations, welfare, and student engagement activities within university-hostel residences. The Residents Manager ensures the safe, comfortable, and inclusive living experience for students, drawing on hospitality and hostel management expertise to support a vibrant residential community and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Residential Operations & Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of student hostels, ensuring a clean, secure, and well-maintained environment.
- Oversee check-in/check-out procedures, room assignments, and occupancy tracking.
- Coordinate with Facilities and Maintenance teams for repairs, refurbishments, and health/safety checks.
- Monitor hostel supplies, furniture, utilities, and cleanliness with a proactive upkeep schedule.
Student Welfare & Community Building
- Act as the first point of contact for student residents regarding hostel-related issues, conflicts, or concerns.
- Support student welfare by ensuring access to emotional, academic, and disciplinary support channels.
- Organize and support hostel activities, welcome programmes, and community engagement events (e.g. cultural nights, festive celebrations, sports activities).
- Build a sense of community among diverse student groups and encourage peer support culture.
Policy Compliance & Safety
- Enforce university housing policies, rules, and codes of conduct.
- Respond to emergency situations and implement hostel safety protocols.
- Conduct room inspections and audits in accordance with university housing policies.
- Collaborate with Security and Health & Safety departments to ensure 24/7 student well-being.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise residential staff, wardens, cleaners, and part-time student helpers.
- Deliver training and briefings to team members on customer service, emergency handling, and residential care.
- Foster a student-friendly culture across all team touchpoints.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of occupancy, student incidents, maintenance requests, and disciplinary cases.
- Prepare monthly reports on hostel operations, student satisfaction, incident trends, and improvements.
- Manage hostel budgets, student deposits, and operational costs in coordination with Finance.
- Support accommodation planning for peak periods (e.g. intakes, semester breaks, inter-campus transfers).
Key Requirements:Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Education, Psychology, Student Affairs, or related field.
- Certification in hostel, dormitory, or facilities management is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in hostel management, student affairs, or hospitality operations.
- Experience working with university students or young adults in a multicultural setting.
