QC Geophysicist is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control processes in marine geoscience operations. This role ensures that surveys, data collection, and geophysical operations comply with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements Requirements: • Accumulated at least seven (7) years professional experience in their relevant profession, before engaging in consultancy work. • At least three (3) jobs in consultancy work with Oil and Gas companies with experience in HSSE supervision • Attended a HSSE Worksite Supervisory or Frontline Supervisory course or equivalent HSSE supervisory course. Key Responsibilities: 1. Quality Assurance and Quality Control: • Implement and manage quality control procedures for geophysical and geotechnical surveys conducted in marine environments. • Ensure that all data collection, processing, and reporting meet the required standards and specifications. • Review survey data to ensure accuracy and consistency before it is submitted to clients or used in further analysis. 2. Survey Equipment and Calibration: • Ensure all survey equipment is properly calibrated and maintained to meet operational standards. • Perform regular checks and tests on survey instruments such as sonar, GPS, multibeam echo sounders, and sub-bottom profilers. • Monitor equipment performance during operations and address issues promptly. 3. Data Quality Review: • Analyze survey data (e.g., bathymetric, geophysical, and geotechnical) to detect and resolve discrepancies or errors. • Ensure data quality through validation, correction, and verification techniques. • Provide feedback and recommendations for data improvement where necessary. 4. Documentation and Reporting: • Maintain detailed records of quality assurance and control processes, inspections, and test results. • Prepare and submit quality reports to project managers and clients. • Document any deviations from quality standards and ensure corrective actions are taken. 5. Compliance and Standards: • Ensure all marine operations adhere to relevant international and local standards, industry guidelines, and safety regulations (such as ISO standards, maritime safety, etc.). • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements. 6. Operational Support: • Provide technical support to the survey crew, ensuring proper methods and procedures are followed. • Liaise with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. • Participate in risk assessments and safety meetings to maintain a safe working environment. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, Physics, Marine Engineering or a related field. • Proficiency in geophysical data processing software and tools. • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
