Technical Executive (Chargeman A4)
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key technical personnel responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical systems and other associated facilities at Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital (AWC).
This position reports directly to the Head of Department, Facility Engineering & Maintenance Services (AWC)
1) Perform critical technical functions relating to low voltage (LV) electrical systems operation and maintenance, including routine inspections, fault response, and compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations.
2) Support and oversee PPM works across all facilities, ensuring maintenance schedules are followed, documented, and equipment performance is optimal.
3) Assist in hospital energy management initiatives by maintaining efficient electrical system performance, supporting energy audits, and implementing recommended improvements.
4) Ensure operational readiness during electrical emergencies, participate in root cause analysis, and recommend remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
Contribute to documentation for internal and external audits, and support certifications such as AEMAS where electrical system performance is a key requirement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Electrical Operations & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform and monitor Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for all electrical systems, equipment and related facilities at Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital (AWCSH).
- Operate, inspect, and maintain low voltage (LV) installations including switchboards, generator sets, UPS systems, and distribution panels.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults, perform corrective actions, and ensure all works are recorded and documented.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations and other applicable laws.
- Carry out testing, calibration, and safety verifications of electrical systems as required.
- Ensure Single Line Diagrams, PM logs, and electrical records are up to date and available for internal and external audits.
3. Facility-Wide Support & Contractor Coordination
- Support operations across all Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital (AWCSH).
- Supervise and verify works conducted by electrical contractors or service providers, ensuring safety and compliance with scope and quality standards.
- Assist in review and verification of contractor service reports and maintenance claims.
4. Energy Management & Sustainability Support
- Support Energy Management initiatives and participate in activities related to AEMAS certification.
- Assist in implementing energy-saving measures, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing input during internal audits and reviews.
- Provide feedback and system insights to the Energy Manager or Energy Management Committee when required.
5. Emergency Response & Standby Duty
- Participate in emergency response, including electrical faults, power outages, and disaster scenarios, ensuring safe and timely restoration of services.
- Required to be on-call to provide support during non-office hours, weekends, or public holidays.
- Maintain readiness of backup systems such as generator sets, UPS, and emergency lighting.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and update all maintenance records, checklists, and inspection logs.
- Submit regular reports on system performance, incidents, PPM status, and compliance matters to the Head of Department.
