Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory Officer General Description: The lab officer’s role is essential to support lecturers in overseeing lab sessions, particularly for larger groups. Their duties also involve coordinating the operation and maintenance of ICT labs and liaising between academics and the IT team who manage the backend infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a vital part in assisting academic staff with supervising lab sessions and managing the day-to-day operations of the ICT labs. They'll be responsible for various aspects of these labs, including the equipment, users, and supplies, and ensuring the labs are fully prepared for lessons, exams, exhibitions, and workshops. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operations • Coordinate with academic staff and laboratory manager for course experiment requirements. • Prepare lab equipments, softwares according to courses requirements every semester. • Monitor laboratory safety and keep all the labs in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. In cases of unavailable compliance, documents the instances as well as how they were abated. • Ensure all instruments/equipment are available in lessons, examinations, exhibitions, and workshops. • Communicate and enforce laboratory safety rules to all users working in the labs. 2. Maintenance • Ensure that the labs are a safe, clean and efficient environment with an orderly manner for all the users of students and staffs. • Ensure all software and equipment are functioning correctly and proper action can be executed immediately when software and equipment are problematic and require upgrade, maintenance, and repair. • Conduct a yearly inventory of all the laboratory equipment/instruments by ensuring asset codes of each components are registered and precise to each venue assigned • Ensure softwares’ licenses are renewed once reaching deadline for annual licences type. 3. Management • Be familiar with the regulatory requirements specific to users and ensure all users are compliance with those standards or rules. • Update and maintain the Lab Safety Plan/Manuals and equipment specifications. • Accompany the Lab Manager during Lab Inspections. • Be familiar with procedure of handling lab bookings request from lecturers, staffs, students that may need to use labs for education/training purposes. Requirement: (1) Candidate must possess at least Degree in computer science related discipline (2) Experience with Microwave and RF equipment/instruments. (3) Excellent computer software skills for office (4) Excellent verbal and written skills in English (5) Ability to work positively and cooperatively with staff and student
