Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work with children with special needs, helping them develop the necessary skills to participate in daily activities and improve their quality of life. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physical, sensory, and cognitive needs of children with special needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to enhance the child’s ability to perform daily activities and participate in educational and social environments.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services, including activities of daily living (ADLs) training, sensory integration therapy, and fine motor skill development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child’s care and development.
- Monitor and document the progress of each child, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate and support families on techniques and strategies to continue therapy at home.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
- Engage in community outreach and awareness programs related to occupational therapy and special needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Valid practicing license as an Occupational Therapist in Malaysia.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a clinical or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy techniques, tools, and interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical standards.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in sensory integration therapy, play therapy, or other specialized pediatric therapeutic approaches.
- Familiarity with the Malaysian educational system and its integration with therapy services.
- Ability to create engaging and therapeutic activities tailored to individual children’s interests and needs.
