Execute Product Stewardship and “Ensure Quality Product (EQP)” processes under SEAM standard practice and ensure SMIGU's products always meet specifications and legislative requirements. Manage Production Chemistry’s Laboratory and ensure the Laboratory’s Quality Assurance and Operations comply with MS ISO 17025 requirements and other local regulatory requirement. EQP - Ensure Quality Products (EQP) process is to provide a framework to manage, control and assure product quality to safeguard against reputational and financial loss. Direct Report: 13 • Job Description Job Description Specific Tasks and Targets Lab Technical & Quality Operations • Sustain laboratory facilities including offices & stores to ensure safety, continuous operation, and regulatory compliance. • Sustain laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) according to ISO17025 requirement. • Sustain and continually improve Analytical Team’s work processes through Continuous Improvement (CI) Way of Working. • Together with Process Chemist, implement and sustain SEAM EQP Process in SMEP, ensuring our Products meet required specification and legislative requirements. • Ensure provision of quality laboratory data critical for production system surveillance & optimization, regulatory reporting, project delivery, legal & commercial compliance etc. • Conduct experiment and studies to investigate, study and improve production performance. • Conduct Safe Handling of Chemical (SHOC) Training as Coach under Learning & Development. • Lead periodic audit to contractors’ (i.e. commercial laboratories, production chemical suppliers) laboratories to assure their operation meets required performance standard. Contract Management • Play role as Contract Holder for Analytical Chemistry team: Equipment Calibration & Maintenance, Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and Commercial Laboratory. • Plan, tender, and manage contracts with strict adherence to specific rules and procedures. Cost & Budgeting • Assist PC Manager in Operation Planning (OP) process. • Compile Minor Capex, Time-writing Planning, and OPEX requirement for various PC teams. • Follow through in OP implementation and participate in Latest Estimate (LE) meetings to follow-up and update when required. Leadership & Managerial • Coaching, mentoring and development of Production Chemistry staff. • Manages direct reports (GPA, IDP, SRA). • Participate in PC Leadership Team meeting. • Develop tactics and strategies in running, sustaining, and steering the direction of the team in alignment with PC and SMIGU. Key Challenges • Introduction of new analytical techniques to the lab staff. • Commissioning of new equipment in the lab and teach the lab technicians on how to use it. • Sustain/obtain accreditation to ISO 17025. • Manage HSSE risks related to chemical deployment in the laboratory. • Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and help to implement approved solutions. • Advise on structured sampling and testing. • Responsible for implementation of Group Record Management procedures. • LIMS superuser and assist the lab technicians on the use/development of LIMS • Approved signatory under SAMM regulatory requirements. • Responding to ever changing demands on short notice and to be able to work under pressure arising from operational uncertainties and project deadlines to be met. • Managing activities in accordance with HSSE policies, quality standards and statutory regulations. Audit production chemical suppliers’ laboratories to ensure compliance to requirement. Key Interfaces • The Analytical Chemistry Lead role interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders, e.g. Petronas, Sarawak Asset Teams, Sabah Deep Water Asset Teams, Finance, HR, HSSE, SC, OR&A, WRFM, Operations, Legal, HCA and Supplier of production chemicals, equipment, and services. Experience and Qualifications Required • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry • Preferably registered member of Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM) • Minimum of 10 years practical laboratory experience in oil & gas operations. • Good written and verbal skills of English • Trained ISO 17025 Lead Assessor • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. • Ability to transfer Production Chemistry knowledge/advice to non-chemists. • DoE CePSWAM certification holder is an added advantage
