Mission Manage stores of spare parts and consumables in compliance with company spare parts policy. Secure adequate inventory of spare parts and maintenance materials Scope The MSUP shall ensure that: The entire unit is maintained in good condition and full working order All machinery is operated with good engineering and seamanship practice and in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, maker’s instructions, Company directives and Company HSEQ System He is present in the ECR (Engine Control Room)/CCR during all standby conditions; if for urgent reasons he is not available then he must maintain communication with the ECR or CCR That personnel are fully informed of their duties and applicable work procedures and of safety and pollution prevention measure He is head of maintenance department on board and as such cover whole unit, including deck and production machinery and equipment Duties The responsibilities include the main General and Special responsibilities listed below. In addition, the OIM or any superior may assign any other tasks to be performed. The MSUP shall ensure that the following functions are conducted safely and professionally in accordance with approved work procedures: Machinery operation Machinery/system maintenance Planned maintenance system Repair work Maintenance of classification status and certificates To be fully familiar with rules, regulations and work procedures within area of responsibility To execute assigned tasks in conformance with work procedures and/or quality plans as instructed by the OIM and the Company. To execute assigned tasks safely, to the highest standards, and to report hazardous conditions without delay to the CCR. Familiar with the PTW System Work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work and work aloft shall be according to PTW System Documentation of spare parts and specified items Calculation and bunkering of safe stocks of fuel oils and lubrication oils Shall ensure that safe procedures are adhered to when bunkering, in order to prevent overflow and pollution Separation, segregation and proper discharging of oily and bilge water mixtures Deck machinery Technical installations on deck, in superstructures and in accommodations The MSUP has the most senior jobs in the maintenance department and must possess the leadership qualities needed to run large, complex organizations. Authority The MSUP is appointed by the Company, and has delegated authority as technical manager onboard Qualifications Chief Engineer Officer certificate – STCW95 Reg. III/2 and flag state endorsement of same For other certificates and training, see Company Training Matrix, Unit Specific Training Matrix and CBT Matrix Meet the requirements for certification as an officer in charge of an engineering watch on seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more and have approved seagoing service in that capacity Have not less than 36 months approved sea going service, however, this period may be reduced to not less than 24 months if not less than 12 months of such seagoing service has been served as a second engineer officer and Have completed approved education and training and meet the standard of competence specified in section A-III/2 of the STCW code.
