As Chef, you will be fully responsible for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen. This includes menu planning, team supervision, inventory control, food quality, and ensuring smooth kitchen workflow. You will lead by example, taking ownership of the kitchen's performance, hygiene standards, and the overall guest experience through the food you create.

The Hillpark Cafe is seeking a talented and experienced Chef to lead our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about food, skilled in western and asian cuisine, and excited to bring new ideas to our seasonal menus
  • As Chef, you will oversee the kitchen team, maintain high food quality and safety standards, and help shape the culinary direction of our cafe

Responsibility

  • Design and execute seasonal café-style menus and daily specials.
  • Lead food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Lead, train, and schedule kitchen staff.
  • Maintain inventory, place orders, and manage food costs.
  • Ensure hygiene, cleanliness, and compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the cafe manager on menu development and event catering.
  • Monitor kitchen efficiency and implement improvements where needed.
  • Maintain and ensure cleanliness of kitchen at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a café, bistro, or similar setting.
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal, and creative food.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Eager to learn new things.
  • Passionate in every aspect of the job.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
