Objectives of the Position
The Specialist, Product Safety Asia Pacific, will be responsible for all activities related to performance reporting, ensuring a consistently high level of performance. This role aims to enhance the department's operational efficiency and data management by ensuring accurate data extraction, validation, and comprehensive KPI reporting. The Specialist will focus on optimizing processes through digitalization and automation using platforms like Microsoft Power Platform and Macro VBA, while also developing and maintaining digital solutions. Additionally, the role involves fostering effective collaboration with team leads for consistent performance reporting, coordinating Service Level Agreements, supporting internal and external audits, and contributing to global projects in AI, data analysis, and process optimization. The Specialist will actively engage in initiatives that drive departmental success.
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
Data Management and Reporting
- Support and run monthly data extraction using BASF systems and databases. Validate data accuracy and append necessary information to enable generation of reports and dashboards
- Provide monthly KPI reporting as well as other necessary data analysis and reporting to support the smooth and efficient operation of Product Safety Asia Pacific and regulatory development monitoring and reporting for Asia Pacific.
- Collaborate closely with team leads to ensure consistent and accurate reporting of performance across all operations
- Coordinate the administration of Service Level Agreements and ensure proper reporting and related charging.
- Act as key focal to support internal and external audit, including Quality Checks for potential improvements and preventive measures.
Process Optimisation and Digitalisation
- Improve operational processes and reporting efficiency by process optimization, automation and digitalization using no-code or low-code platform such as Microsoft Power Platform, Macro VBA and others
- Conduct requirements analysis and documentation for new/change requests, develop and maintain digital solutions
- Engage and collaborate in digitalization projects to improve departmental operational efficiencies.
- Support and participate in global projects in topics such as AI, data analysis and process optimization
Other responsibilities
- Undertake other ad-hoc tasks as required to support the team and departmental goals.
- Work closely with team to organize Community exchange or regulatory forums, coordinate, follow up and prepare for necessary presentation material and minutes of meeting.
- Ensure timely review, update and improve related work documentation to ensure sustainable knowledge retention and standardization within department.
- Continuous self-development through proactive learning and development (70:20:10 approach)
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific area, Business Administration, data science, IT or related areas
Working Experience
- At least 3 – 5 years relevant experience in data analysis and reporting, digitalization and low code development, preferably in chemical regulation, product regulatory affairs
Technical & Professional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge in data analysis, database tools and data query methods
- Expert in Excel usage including macro, pivot tables, use of functions, and graphing.
- Strong experience in developing applications in Microsoft Power Platform – Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Macro VBA, Robotic Process Automation, and others.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Database
- Excellent analytical skills, with attention to details
- Excellent organizational and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Ability in written and spoken Mandarin has added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Experience in project related work would be preferable
- Experience in Lean / Six Sigma, or other process optimization methodologies has added advantage
- Experience in Asia Pacific countries regulatory requirements or Product Safety/Stewardship framework has added advantage
