LORRY DRIVER

Job Summary To meet customers’ needs by delivering goods in a timely, safe and courteous manner using van or lorry. Perform variety of store activities and related work when required. The Duties and Respnsibilities Take orders for delivery including package type and destination. Assist in loading goods onto the lorry and placing them in proper location. Stack boxes in and upright manner to ensure safety during transport. Make certain that all paperwork accompanying goods is complete. Map best possible routes prior to setting out. Drive lorry on preset route using navigation system, such as the GPS. Fill up lorry with fuel before setting out on a route. Maintain knowledge of local and interest routes Monitor road, traffic and weather condition and take alternate routes where required. Deliver goods to their destination and take customers’ signature on receipts. Inform origin of delivery status and any additional information, such as customer complaints. Perform preventative and regular maintenance on lorry and ensure that vehicles fluids are sufficient. Report any serious mechanical problem to the concerned individual within the company. Clean lorry and ensure that everything is in good working order. Store lorry cleaning, maintenance equipment and tool in a safe place, Any ad hoc task as assigned by superior.
