The Role Reporting to: Assistant ICT Manager The post of Senior Network Engineer will primarily be responsible to ensure the College’s IT infrastructure are running smoothly at all times. The incumbent will also serve as backup for the Service Desk and the rest of the department as necessary. Key Responsibilities Wi-Fi • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco WLCs and Cisco AP. • Troubleshoot user speed and coverage issues. • Monitoring and alerting using Cisco Prime Infrastructure. • Periodic configuration backup and security patching. Switching • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco core, distribution, access, and top of rack switches. • Monitoring and alerting using Cisco Prime Infrastructure. • Periodic configuration backup and security patching. Cabling • Identify and troubleshoot faulty cable runs, both copper and fiber. • Supervise and instruct the cabling vendor for repairs. Network Security • Authentication and Authorization to campus Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, admin access to network equipment, remote access VPN, using Cisco Identity Services Engine. • Configure and maintain policies and rules on Palo Alto and Cisco Firepower firewalls. • Maintain ACLs on LAN devices. • Periodic configuration backup and security patching. Documentation • Maintain inventory and change documentation of all of the above. • Handle support cases and warranty claims of all of the above. • Create and update SOPs and How-Tos as necessary, both for users and internal IT use. In addition to the primary responsibilities, you may be asked to take on additional responsibilities of complementary systems based on your skills and experience. Cisco Unity for voice mail and Call/Directory Handlers. • Microsoft server technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, SCOM, CA, NDES. • Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) administration. • Azure AD SSO, MFA Essential Skills and Abilities The successful candidate should be able to relate well to people at all levels, be calm and confident under pressure, have a good sense of humour and be able to work as part of a team. • Bachelor’s degree and relevant in Network Engineering, Management Information System (MIS), Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field qualifications with 5 years’ experience • Preferred skills/ ability/Knowledge: LAN, WLAN, Firewalls • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) holders will have an added advantage. • Excellent written and oral English for effective communication with staff, parents and pupils • Good troubleshooting methodology with independent research skills. • Good task and time management, able to complete and report on completed tasks with minimal prompting • Well documented work following department SOPs
