JUNIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR
Job Overview:
The Junior Quantity Surveyor will support the senior quantity surveyors and project management team in managing the cost and procurement aspects of construction projects. This role involves assisting in cost planning, cost estimating, procurement, and maintaining project budgets throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, an eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Descriptions
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for projects.
- Review tender documentation and assist in the preparation of tender submissions.
- Assist in managing project procurement activities, including the preparation of contract documents and the issuing of tender packages.
- Evaluate and monitor project costs, including materials, labor, and overheads.
- Track project expenses and provide detailed cost reports for senior management.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure work is being completed as per the project schedule.
- Assist in the negotiation and administration of contracts.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Prepare monthly reports on cost status, changes, and variations in the project.
- Assist with valuation of work completed and certification of payments to contractors and suppliers.
- Assist in finalizing accounts at project completion.
- Any other duties assigned by immediate superior.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a quantity surveying or construction-related role (internships or work experience may be considered).
- Basic understanding of construction contracts, cost estimation, and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the field.
- Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.

Ensuring that cost estimates and budgets are accurate and aligned with project requirements.

Completing procurement processes within the specified timeframes ensures that the project starts on time and that the materials and services are delivered as needed.

Monitoring and controlling project costs within the budget is vital.
- Reporting Timeliness (15%)
Submitting regular and accurate progress reports is important for transparency and decision-making.
- Client and Stakeholder Satisfaction (15%)
Maintaining good relationships with project stakeholders and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget is important for repeat business and project success.

Conducting regular site visits and ensuring progress is in line with the plan is important for quality control.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
