
Assistant Pre-School Teacher / Assistant Early Childhood Education Teacher
*Job Description*
Responsible for supporting the lead teacher in working with young children, typically ranging from infants to around eight years old, in a structured educational setting. The primary goal is to assist in facilitating the children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development during their formative years.
*Responsibilities and Duties*
1. *Support in Curriculum Development:*
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and educational activities.
- Help prepare materials and resources for lesson plans that focus on developmental areas such as language development, motor skills, social skills, and creativity.
2. *Classroom Support and Management:*
- Help maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment under the direction of the lead teacher.
- Assist in managing children’s behavior and encouraging positive social interactions.
- Support the development of a sense of community within the classroom.
3. *Individualized Assistance:*
- Provide support to children with diverse needs and abilities as directed by the lead teacher.
- Offer additional help to children to overcome challenges and achieve developmental milestones.
4. *Parent Communication Support:*
- Assist in keeping parents informed about their child’s progress, development, and any concerns as instructed by the lead teacher.
- Help prepare for parent-teacher conferences and provide support during discussions about classroom activities.
5. *Collaboration with Colleagues:*
- Work closely with the lead teacher, other assistant teachers, and support staff to maintain a cohesive educational environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to professional development activities as required.
6. *Assessment and Documentation Assistance:*
- Support the lead teacher in using assessment tools to evaluate children’s progress and development.
- Help maintain accurate records of each child’s achievements, challenges, and milestones.
7. *Promoting Social and Emotional Development:*
- Assist in creating opportunities for social interactions and supporting conflict resolution among children.
- Help foster emotional well-being and encourage a positive self-image under the lead teacher’s guidance.
8. *Incorporating Play and Creativity:*
- Support the integration of play-based learning into the curriculum to enhance creativity and imagination.
- Assist in facilitating games, art, music, and other interactive activities to make learning enjoyable.
9. *Health and Safety Support:*
- Help ensure the health and safety of the children in the classroom.
- Assist in implementing hygiene practices and respond to minor medical needs under supervision.
10. *Professional Development:*
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in early childhood education with guidance from the lead teacher.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance assisting skills.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the lead teacher or management from time to time.
