Test Engineer

Product Engineer (TEST) - Senior - Batu Kawan, Penang • Participate in design reviews and critique design based on knowledge of Company manufacturing & supplier capability • Own and proactively working with technical support team, MFG, R&D and customers to resolve issues in the current products • Solve problems independently, Own and accountable to deliver the assigned work on time, cost and quality • Assemble and test prototypes. • Conduct quality test on products personally and subsequently train others • Work with R&D and manufacturing team to transfer products from design to manufacturing. • Liaise with and manage suppliers. This involves communicating with suppliers on our design requirements and managing them to ensure that they are competent in meeting their deliverables • Identify and manage part obsolescence issues and cost down opportunities with suppliers. • Key interface with manufacturing engineering & sourcing supporting creation and sign off on the manufacturing & supplier plans at all stage gates. • Coordinate between design team and PCBA suppliers to optimize design for assembly cost. • Technical leadership responsibility for the NPD (new product development) transition of new products from the design team to manufacturing. • Lead resource working with manufacturing, project team, sourcing and quality to deliver successful prototype, engineering builds within operations. Key commercialization sign off resource. • In conjunction with design team, take primary responsibility for rigorous technical capability evaluation / approval of key suppliers for NPD programs. • Key technical resource to sign off on all design related management of change processes including ECOs, BOM, supplier changes representing R&D and the global design teams. • Manage suppliers (components, PCB / PCBA, CM, cables, etc.) to meet program expectations for cost, timing and performance. • Troubleshoot piece part issues and identify/implement necessary process improvement to resolve them. • Own Supplier PPAP approval for the NPD and sustaining project components, PPAP includes FAI (First Article inspection, Capability analysis for process variation Cp & Cpk, PFMEA, Control plan, test results data review, compliance to drawing notations such as UL/RoHS Certificates. Requisite Criteria • Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering • At least 5 years’ experience, where 3 years are spend in Design/NPD project/product. • Good understanding of PCB/PCBA, SMT, ICT, and FCT processes. • Knowledge of Altium Design, FMEA advantageous • Able to work independently and in a team. • Read & understand schematics, ability to perform simple component soldering, usage of measurement equipment (real-time oscilloscope etc.) • Require hands-on approach • Some travelling (including international travel) may be required • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills. • Proficient English verbal and written communication skills and experience writing technical specifications. • Document various aspects at different stages of development
