Job Summary:

The Special Education Cum Playgroup Teacher is responsible for fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for young children with special needs, as well as engaging with non-special needs students in the playgroup setting. This role requires expertise in differentiated teaching methods, individualized education plans (IEPs), and early childhood development principles to support the academic, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Special Education Support:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each child.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disabilities, and more.
  • Modify and adapt classroom materials, activities, and lessons to meet the specific learning needs of special education students.
  • Monitor and track the progress of special needs children, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • Playgroup Teaching:
  • Design and deliver age-appropriate, play-based learning activities that foster cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development in young children (ages 2-5).
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and exploration.
  • Implement play-based learning strategies, games, songs, and sensory activities to engage students.
  • Foster social interaction, teamwork, and positive communication skills among playgroup students.
  • Behavior Management:
  • Implement positive behavioral reinforcement techniques to guide student behavior and create a respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with parents and other staff to address challenging behaviors and implement strategies for behavioral improvement.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers to understand the specific needs of each child, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, therapists (e.g., speech, occupational, or physical therapists), and educational professionals to ensure the holistic development of children with special needs.
  • Participate in team meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions to improve teaching practices and stay updated on best practices in early childhood special education.
  • Assessment & Reporting:
  • Conduct regular assessments of student progress, both formally and informally.
  • Document and track students' growth, achievements, and challenges.
  • Prepare reports on student progress for parents, administrators, and other educational stakeholders.
  • Inclusive Education:
  • Advocate for an inclusive educational environment where all students, regardless of their needs, feel supported and valued.
  • Encourage peer-to-peer relationships and integrate children with special needs into group activities with non-special needs students.
  • Safety & Well-being:
  • Ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment, addressing the physical, emotional, and social needs of all children.
  • Maintain health and safety protocols in accordance with school policy and local regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Certification in Special Education or relevant training is highly preferred.
  • Additional certifications in play-based learning or child development are a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Contract, Temporary
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,200.00 per month
