JOB SUMMARY

Key Responsibilities:

The Head of Secondary / Secondary Principal holds a pivotal leadership role, overseeing all aspects of the Secondary School’s operations. This includes, but is not limited to:

a) Comprehensive organization and administration of the school,
b) Development and enhancement of instructional programs,
c) Staff duty assignment, supervision, and professional growth,
d) Effective day-to-day management of school facilities and operations.

1. Leadership

  • Work towards achieving the annual objectives as outlined in the School’s business plan, policies, and strategic direction set by the Council of Education (COE) / Board of Management (BoM).
  • Strive for continuous improvement in operational effectiveness within the School.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, including school operating licenses and relevant education laws.
  • Stay current with educational best practices through professional reading, development programs, and participation in relevant conferences.
  • Recommend necessary policy updates and ensure adherence to approved practices and procedures.
  • Maximize time spent on supervision and instructional leadership when not engaged in teaching duties, with a focus on improving staff performance and school effectiveness.
  • Mentor, support, and motivate both student leaders and faculty members.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and administrators.
  • Implement strong internal governance processes to ensure transparency and accountability.

2. Programme and Curriculum

  • Ensure academic policies and curriculum guidelines are followed effectively.
  • Develop and monitor benchmarks to measure institutional success.
  • Guide and support the creation of academic programs that meet students’ diverse needs and interests, including special education initiatives.
  • Assist teaching staff in selecting, implementing, and refining curriculum materials while keeping the management informed of any changes.
  • Foster student morale by encouraging participation in both curricular and extracurricular activities, and involve faculty in supporting these initiatives.

3. Student Supervision and Discipline

  • Create an environment that promotes student self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Exercise disciplinary authority over students on campus, during school commutes, and during school-sponsored activities.
  • Oversee all student organization activities.
  • Ensure proper supervision of students across all school-related settings including buildings, school grounds, field trips, and bus transportation.
  • Maintain a bias-free, inclusive atmosphere that supports students in achieving their full potential.
  • Regularly meet with students to understand and address their concerns.

4. Human Resource Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance appraisals for academic staff.
  • Evaluate faculty and staff to identify professional development needs and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in hiring processes, training initiatives, and manpower planning.
  • Set clear performance targets and objectives for teaching staff.

5. Financial Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the school’s annual budget effectively.
  • Submit budget proposals for supplies, materials, and equipment; forecast annual income accordingly.
  • Review and approve instructional material requests, ensuring alignment with the approved budget.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, Teaching, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of proven leadership experience in educational management.
  • Exceptional management, multitasking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students, parents, and staff across all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Inspirational leadership style with the ability to coach and motivate others.
  • In-depth knowledge of school administrative processes and national education regulations.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with School Management Systems (SMS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an added advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
