Siemens Malaysia is seeking a skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert field service support, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear systems and protection relays. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our customer service operations, delivering high-quality technical support to our customers across a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation & Commissioning:
o Lead and oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage (up to 33KV GIS) switchgear systems, including protection relay systems.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
o Perform proactive and corrective maintenance, diagnostic testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, focusing on LV and MV switchgear and protection relays.
  • Customer Support:
o Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of their electrical systems.
  • Field Service Reporting:
o Prepare detailed service reports, documenting findings, actions taken, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Technical Expertise:
o Provide expert advice on the selection, configuration, and maintenance of protection relays, switchgear, and associated equipment.
  • Training & Development:
o Conduct training sessions for customers and junior engineers on the operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Collaboration:
o Work closely with Siemens project management teams and service departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
o Safety & Compliance:
o Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and Siemens policies, promoting a culture of safety and quality in all aspects of field service operations.

Key Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise:
o 5+ years of experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of switchgear and protection relay systems.
o Strong knowledge of LV and MV switchgear, protection relays and related electrical systems.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in the use of testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications related to electrical safety, protection systems, and switchgear (e.g., electrical license, protection relay certifications) are preferred.
  • Ability to travel to customer site across Malaysia or overseas as required.
    • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is required. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
