JOB DESCRIPTION:
YOUR ROLE AS A MANAGER, NETWORK PLANNING (INDONESIA FOCUS)
AirAsia is looking for a commercially-driven, analytically sharp, and market-savvy Manager, Network Planning (Indonesia Focus) to lead the design, development, and optimisation of our route network to and from Indonesia — one of our most strategic and fastest-growing markets. This role plays a key part in shaping Indonesia AirAsia’s growth strategy, balancing commercial opportunities with operational feasibility, and driving sustainable profitability.
We are seeking an experienced aviation professional of Indonesian nationality with deep market knowledge, native fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, and strong command of English. You should have a solid understanding of Indonesia’s aviation landscape, passenger trends, competition, and regulatory environment.
As Manager, Network Planning (Indonesia), you will lead route evaluations, manage route performance, optimise schedules, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to execute AirAsia’s network strategy.
This is a hands-on role, requiring close collaboration with teams across Revenue Management, Scheduling, Regulatory, Government Relations, Airport Partnerships, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive Growth & New Market Development
Identify, evaluate, and recommend new route opportunities — both domestic and international — to strengthen Indonesia AirAsia’s market presence.
Develop robust business cases and route forecasts supported by data analysis, market intelligence, and competitive benchmarking.
Lead scenario planning for route launches, aircraft deployment, frequency planning, and operational feasibility.
2. Optimise Network Performance
Monitor route performance KPIs, including revenue, cost, load factor, and profitability.
Work closely with Revenue Management, Scheduling, Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to drive network optimisation strategies.
Recommend tactical adjustments to frequencies, schedules, or route structures in response to market changes.
3. Market & Industry Insights (with Indonesia Focus)
Stay updated on key market drivers in Indonesia:
Domestic traffic trends
Labour movement corridors
Tourism developments
Geopolitical and regulatory updates
Competitor network strategies
Provide timely insights to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
4. Stakeholder Management & Representation
Represent Indonesia AirAsia’s network planning agenda in internal meetings, management reviews, and regional discussions with AirAsia Group.
Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including airports, tourism boards, regulators, and industry partners within Indonesia.
Participate in market visits, conferences, and route negotiations as required.
5. Data Management & Network Tools
Maintain accurate, updated network data specific to Indonesia AirAsia, including route rollout plans, frequency plans, aircraft assignments, and market reports.
Support data requests from management, regulators, airports, or partners.
6. People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Network Planning Executives within Indonesia AirAsia.
Drive a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous learning.
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality analysis, presentations, and reports.
Strong analytical and commercial skills with a strategic mindset.
Deep understanding of the Indonesian aviation landscape and passenger travel patterns.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to balance big-picture strategy with operational detail.
Passion for aviation, market analysis, and data-driven decision making.
Experience in route planning, network analysis, revenue management, or airline strategy preferred.
WHO YOU ARE:
Must be an Indonesian citizen (Warganegara Indonesia) to effectively engage with stakeholders, authorities, and partners across Indonesia.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in aviation related fields, engineering, statistics, economics, or other equivalent qualification
Airline / Aviation experience: 5+ years
Network Planning, Revenue Management, Commercial/Sales: 2+ years
Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to strategic initiatives in consulting, network strategy, or commercial analytics, ideally in aviation or a complex operations-driven environment
Solid understanding of Indonesia’s aviation regulatory framework, bilateral air services agreements, and slot coordination procedures.
Knowledge of airline network planning, scheduling, revenue management, sales & distribution along with a sound knowledge of airline economic and financial theory
Experience with network planning/scheduling software and airline data sources such as PaxIS/MIDT, OAG/Innovata, Infare and ARMS
Experience with MS Office in particular Excel and PowerPoint along with database tool knowledge such as SQL, Big Query or Tableau is a plus
