Job Summary: This role focuses on Jewellery Polishing & Electroplating, responsible for the precise and skillful polishing of jewellery pieces to achieve a flawless finish and the expert application of electroplating to enhance their appearance. This role requires extensive knowledge of different metals, gemstones, and the incumbent’s compatibility with the plating process, as well as proficiency in using various tools, chemicals, and techniques to achieve different types of finishes. Job Responsibilities: • Thoroughly inspect and identify the materials and gemstones used in jewelry pieces to determine their suitability for electroplating. • Recognize materials that may require special pre-treatment before the plating process. • Ensure precise temperature control during both the polishing and electroplating processes to achieve optimal results and prevent damage to the jewelry; Monitor temperature variations and adjust as necessary. • Expertly select appropriate polishing tools and buffs based on the jewelry's material and design. • Utilize various abrasive materials and buffing compounds to achieve different types of finishes, including mirror finish, matt finish, brass finish, etc. • Perform meticulous pre-polishing to eliminate scratches, imperfections, and irregularities from the jewelry's surface. • Execute final polishing to achieve a flawless, high-shine finish on the jewelry. • Possess an in-depth understanding of different types of electroplating solutions, particularly those suitable for various types of gold and carat compositions. • Familiarity with the chemical additives and agents necessary to achieve specific plating effects. • Demonstrate proficiency in working with jewelry pieces featuring multiple tones, such as two-tone or three-tone designs. • Apply electroplating techniques accurately to maintain distinct color contrasts in multi-tone jewelry. • Understand the specific temperature requirements for different types of jewelry items and adjust the plating process accordingly. • Strictly adhere to safety protocols when working with chemicals and hazardous materials. • Safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow recommended procedures for their use. • Acquire the expertise to achieve various types of finishes, such as mirror finish (high-gloss), matt finish (non-reflective), brass finish (antique appearance), and others. • Ensure all polished and electroplated jewelry pieces meet high-quality standards and inspect the finished products for defects or imperfections. • Make necessary adjustments or corrections to maintain the desired finish. • Regularly clean, maintain, and calibrate polishing and plating equipment to ensure consistent and accurate results. • Maintain detailed records of materials used, plating specifications, polishing techniques, and finishing types for future reference and quality assurance. • Perform any ad-hoc tasks that may be assigned by the management.
