Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Quality Assurance, Methodology, and Training
  • To perform QA reviews and provide assurance over the quality of GIA’s work via formal QA products such as Feedback forms, Hot reviews, Cold reviews, and Continuous Improvement Reviews.
  • To provide day-to-day support and guidance to the audit teams on methodology-related matters by leveraging experience and using professional judgement.
  • To strategically innovate and improve efficiencies within the Internal Audit team with continuous enhancement and refinement of audit practices in the GIA methodology while promoting high standards for annual and engagement level planning, fieldwork execution, and reporting.
  • To lead and coordinate delivery of methodology training to auditors, including tailored training as and when needed.
  • To perform periodic reviews and updates of policies, procedures and related documents such as the IA Charter, IA methodology and Board Audit Committee’s Terms of Reference.
Audit Planning, Reporting, and Risk Monitoring
  • To participate in the annual planning process, including preparing the Annual 4 - Year Rolling Audit Plan.
  • To assist in the preparation and review of Internal Audit reporting decks for submission to the Risk & Compliance Governance Committee (RCGC); Board Audit Committee (BAC), Board Audit & Risk Management Committee (BARMC) and Intra-Group Internal Audit Committee (IGIAC).
  • To perform the role of BUCR for GIA.
  • Monitors the risk environment and assesses the emerging risks through quarterly discussions with C-Suites and senior business management personnel.
Enhancing Internal Audit Effectiveness & Governance
  • To strategically improve the audit process to deliver quality and timely reports.
  • Continuously assess the IA quality environment and advice on appropriate quality improvement actions with regard to IA governance, staff and management, process and profile changes in areas of governance, risk management and control.
  • To provide assurance to regulators and stakeholders on the proper governance and effectiveness of the internal control system
  • Provide objective and independent assessment of GIA’s activities and internal control system.
  • Review and establish policies for the auditing activities in order to assist operational management to comply with requirements.

Requirements
  • Malaysian citizen.
Education/Qualification
  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CCP, ICAEW, ICAS or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in audit (Internal or External), with at least 5 years managerial experience in Internal Audit.
  • Possess sound knowledge of banking practices including good understanding of governance, risk management and internal control systems.
  • Possess good interpersonal, reporting and leadership skills.
