Job Overview:
The Compliance Manager in the industry ensures that the organization operates within the boundaries of regulatory, legal, and internal frameworks. This role involves managing compliance across financial, data protection, and technology regulations. The Compliance Manager will work closely with leadership to build, implement, and enforce policies that safeguard the company while enabling innovative financial technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering [AML], Know Your Customer [KYC], Payment Services Directives), data protection (e.g., GDPR), and cybersecurity regulations.
- Policy Development: Create, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure alignment with local and international fintech regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify regulatory risks associated with financial products, payment processing, and digital banking. Conduct risk assessments and audits to ensure risk mitigation.
- Transaction Monitoring: Oversee transaction monitoring systems to detect unusual or suspicious activities, particularly related to money laundering or fraud.
- Licensing and Reporting: Ensure the company’s fintech operations meet licensing requirements in various jurisdictions. Manage regulatory reporting to financial authorities.
- Training and Awareness: Lead training initiatives for employees on compliance matters, including regulatory changes, KYC, AML policies, and cybersecurity awareness.
- Internal Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with fintech-specific regulations. Provide recommendations for process improvements and corrective actions.
- Third-Party Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with vendors, partners, and payment processors in accordance with financial regulations.
- Incident Response: Lead investigations and responses to compliance breaches, data leaks, and suspicious transactions. Collaborate with legal and IT teams to report incidents to authorities.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of all compliance activities. Provide reports to senior management and regulators.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on evolving fintech regulations and industry trends (e.g., digital assets, crypto compliance). Anticipate the impact of new laws on the business and develop strategic responses.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of compliance experience in financial services, fintech, or banking.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of fintech regulations, including AML, KYC, payment systems, and data privacy laws.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of financial products and payment platforms.
- Excellent communication skills to present compliance requirements clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complex compliance challenges in a rapidly evolving fintech landscape.
