The Buyer executes purchasing of goods and services as required for multiple IPC organizations. The role encompasses sourcing of requirements and price negotiation. Support the negotiation and execution of contractual agreements and statements of work when required. The Buyer I usually manages low-level impact commodities and purchases across a region and assists others with commercial negotiations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and execute purchase orders from approved requisitions to meet business requirements.
- Confirm orders.
- Manage supplier delivery dates and address leadtime issues.
- Support accounts payable to ensure proper and prompt payment of suppliers including invoice issue resolution.
- Assure acceptable quality levels in all purchased goods and services.
- Utilize data to assist management development of sourcing plans for all assigned products and services.
- Assist negotiations for part and service pricing.
- Assist contract efforts for commercial requirements.
- Identify and select suppliers to meet product and service requirements.
- Interact with suppliers to explain IPC and our processes.
- Support regular supplier business reviews to ensure solid relationships.
- Provide ongoing purchasing activity reporting to IPC management including cost savings, on-time delivery, etc
- Annual cost improvement, enhanced payment term, inventory turns, and others as assigned.
How You Will Make an Impact:
A Buyer I will participate in contract negotiations and cost-saving initiatives to achieve favourable cost outcomes for IPC. They will have annual goals based on expected achievements throughout the year, which will be used to measure their performance.
Job requirements:
- 2 or more years purchasing experience.
- Must have strong both oral and written.
- Experience managing commodities such as electronics, custom fabricated material such as plastic or PCBs, servers, networking equipment, cabling, software, software licenses, software and hardware maintenance, as well as installation, consulting, and other related services.
- Demonstrated negotiation experience.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
- Oracle ERP experience desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work with management oversight.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and be capable of closing assigned tasks.
- As a support function, ability to work with internal teams and interact with all staff levels of the organization.
- Ability to work across entire assigned regions including NA, EMEA, and/or APAC.
- College degree is strongly preferred (candidates with relevant experience, a high school diploma and professional certification will be considered).
