Key Responsibilities: 1. Sustainability Strategy & Implementation a) Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability roadmap for the company’s seaweed processing operations. b) Establish and promote best practices in responsible seaweed sourcing, traceability, and eco-friendly processing methods. c) Identify and implement opportunities for waste reduction, carbon footprint minimization, and energy efficiency in operations. 2. Regulatory Compliance & Certifications a) Ensure compliance with Malaysian environmental regulations and international sustainability standards (e.g., ASC-MSC, Organic, Fair Trade). b) Liaise with regulatory authorities and industry associations. c) Track, evaluate, and report on the performance of sustainability initiatives. 3. Community & Stakeholder Engagement a) Build strong partnerships with local seaweed farmers, cooperatives, and NGOs to promote ethical sourcing and sustainable livelihoods. b) Organize and facilitate training programs for farmers and staff on sustainable farming, harvesting, and processing techniques. c) Represent the company in sustainability-related discussions with government bodies, NGOs, and academic institutions. d) Prepare and submit grant applications to both Malaysian and international funding agencies in support of sustainability and community-based programs. e) Identify relevant funding opportunities and manage the full grant sourcing process, including proposal writing, budgeting, and post-award reporting. 4. Research & Innovation a) Support R&D initiatives to enhance sustainable seaweed farming practices. b) Stay informed on global sustainability trends and recommend innovative approaches relevant to the seaweed sector. c) Collaborate with universities and research institutions on projects related to climate resilience, biodiversity, and marine conservation. 5. Reporting & Communication a) Prepare comprehensive sustainability reports, impact assessments, and environmental audits. b) Work with the marketing team to communicate sustainability milestones and efforts to customers and stakeholders. c) Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and sustainability forums.
