Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to lead kitchen operations at the campus café located in City University Malaysia, Cyberjaya Campus. The Chef will be responsible for planning menus, preparing meals, managing kitchen staff (if applicable), and maintaining food quality, safety, and hygiene standards. The role is vital in providing a pleasant dining experience for students, staff, and campus visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare a variety of meals (local, Western, and fusion) to suit the diverse campus community.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented according to quality, portion, and hygiene standards.
  • Manage inventory of food supplies and ingredients, ensuring timely ordering and minimal waste.
  • Oversee kitchen operations including food prep, cooking, plating, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and sanitation in the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Train and supervise kitchen assistants or junior staff where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all health regulations and university safety policies.
  • Innovate and introduce new menu items periodically to maintain student interest.
  • Assist with catering for university events, VIP functions, and other special occasions.
  • Monitor and control food costs, portion sizes, and wastage.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma in Culinary Arts or related field; professional certifications are an added advantage.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience as a chef or cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, nutrition, and menu planning.
  • Good leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with Halal food preparation practices is required.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and university event days.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
