As a Mechanical Engineer within the Energy Sector, will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment used in power generation and gas processing facilities. Job Description

  • Design and analyse mechanical systems and equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, tanks, and heat exchangers etc.
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure the structural integrity, performance, and reliability of mechanical components
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to specify, procure, and commission mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot mechanical failures to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and best practices for mechanical design and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of mechanical assets
  • At the starting of project, Coordinate for Key Inputs from Client (Topo, Contour Plan, Soil Report, Water Analysis Report, Site Data etc)
  • Responsible to produce Plot plan, TG Hall Equipment Layouts, Floor Opening & Interface Points Details and identification of other packages and Electrical load list.
  • Design /verification records for the engineering carried out, Design basis report for all the mechanical equipment as and when required, Code calculations, as and when required.
  • Technical specification for all the mechanical equipment, Package P&IDs Preparation, Coordination with electrical and C&I for the relevant portions of technical specification including standard drawings, write ups, data sheets etc as and when required
  • Review of vendor offers, preparation of technical evaluation report, technical portion of the purchase order.
  • Input drawing/document list for package, design review and validation records, Bill of quantities, Vendor drawing review, review of QAP as and when required.
  • Coordination with vendors to clarify technical issues and expediting the complete document/drawings as per the input drawing/doc list including O&M manuals.
  • Preparation of Civil Assignment Drawings, Equipment Layouts, G.A & Fabrication Drawings. Checking the Mechanical Interfaces in Civil Drawings of respective Packages.
  • Project Closure Check List & Project Schedule Variance Report after completing all Engineering Deliverables.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in process engineering within the power or gas industry
  • Proven hands-on experience in detailed design of combined cycle power plant projects.
  • Track record of successfully acquiring and delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for mechanical design, maintenance, and reliability.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Able to perform well under tight timeline and fast pace moving environment and multi-tasking ability with good self-discipline and working under minimum supervision as individual contributor or part of a cross functional team.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Willing to travel or to be based at outstation or at project site (local or overseas) as required.
