Summary of responsibilities Administer and support PayNet’s Databases and continuously monitoring over the health of the Databases to always ensure system efficiency availability. Perform design, development, testing and installation of the databases in PayNet and ad-hoc System Request to support effective of business operations and provide maximum performance result for the users. Participate in development and design of database strategies, and planning for future expansion requirement to ensure fully comply to the regulations and company requirement. Key Areas of Responsibilities Infrastructure Support • Manage Database Administration and activities on (Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL mainly) to ensure effective provision of Technical Services support services, as per the defined SLA’s to fulfil user requirements. • Ensure effective coordination with IT operations team to manage the first line support of infrastructure while liaising with IT Infrastructure and database design or vendors for second line support where needed ensuring optimum customer satisfaction. • Ensure effective monitoring process running to ensure that the database and Backup management is running as per the SLAs defined by IT Operation while proactively identifying areas of improvement and recommending solutions. • Ensure that the Database is running as per the defined SLA (Service Level Agreement). • Ensure the execution of the received deployment plan for database structure upgrades done on time. • Ensure that the latest database patches are ready and correctly deployed • Manage the execution of disaster recovery plans and operate disaster recovery center as per design from IT database design and Business Continuity Plan • Responsible for planning, evaluating, acquiring, developing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting IT Systems and infrastructure Database. • Responsible for Database management including security, configuration, resource monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, and the development of specialized programs. Continuous Improvement • Keep abreast with the latest trend in the information technology field, identify, assess, evaluate and recommend state of the art database technologies & components to be implemented in PayNet to facilitate achievement of optimum confidentiality, integrity and availability of the database. • Investigate the effectiveness of current database technologies / solutions and recommend vendor specific solutions to treat or mitigate any threats and vulnerabilities identified in PayNet. Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures • Recommend improvements to database functional procedures and lead the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of IT database management activity, such that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service. • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing access to the different systems that are operational within PayNet and ensure that data is safeguarded and secure. • Ensure all database management processes, procedures, systems, policies and database operations activities are continuously evaluated to assess current capability against potential threats and technological developments in the industry and to achieve the most expeditious resolution of database issues. • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or computer science or equivalent Additional Requirements • 6 years’ experience in IT with exposure to database support/ management, preferably with a large organization in the financial sector. • Strong working knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL Database administration, database tools and components, business continuity and disaster recovery procedures within a banking environment. • Strong analytical skills. • Good knowledge of best practice standards for Business operations and IT Operations and Processes. • Good interpersonal & communications skills • Ability to work under pressure, being On Call 24 X 7 and adjust quickly to changing priorities
