Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for payment channels, balancing user needs, business goals, compliance, and technical feasibility.
  • Act as the product owner for Shopee's core payment infrastructure, ensuring a seamless, secure, and scalable payment experience for buyers and sellers.
  • Partner with regional and local teams to prioritize product enhancements based on business impact, user feedback, and market trends.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of payment processing, ensuring smooth and timely execution across all payment channels.
  • Monitor and manage payout operations, ensuring accuracy, adherence to internal SOPs, and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Lead the chargeback and disputes resolution team, guiding the handling of cases to minimize loss and protect Shopee’s interests.
  • Product Improvement & Optimization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business stakeholders, engineers, and data analysts to identify pain points and opportunities for improving payment product performance.
  • Work closely with payment service providers, banks, and internal developers to integrate new payment solutions and optimize current ones for better user experience and cost-efficiency.
  • Use data-driven analysis to monitor payment success rates, identify root causes of payment failures, and drive resolution strategies.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead or contribute to regional and local initiatives aimed at improving and innovating payment processes and technologies.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business units and technical teams to ensure alignment on payment-related priorities and implementation timelines.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure Shopee's payment processes are aligned with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal compliance policies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for payment product features, operational workflows, and SOPs.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide payment operations and product team members, conducting regular performance reviews and fostering a high-performance culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in payment product management with a strong foundation in payment operations, payouts, and chargeback resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of payment systems, product lifecycle, and industry regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, PSD2, MAS).
  • Background in e-commerce, fintech, or banking, with exposure to product or platform development.
  • Skilled in defining product vision, managing roadmaps, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data for insights and optimization.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and proficiency in tools like SQL, Jira, Confluence, and Figma.
