Job Title: Assistant Cook – Thai/Asian Kitchen

Location: Tanjung Food Hub, WP Labuan
Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Assistant Cook supports the day-to-day operations of the Thai kitchen at Tanjung Food Hub. This role involves assisting in food preparation, cooking(minimal), plating, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring food quality standards are met according to our authentic Thai menu.

Working Hours:

  • 6-day work week
  • Daily Shift: 9 hours per day (including 1-hour break)
  • Rotational shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing Thai dishes according to recipes and guidelines provided by the Chef de Partie and Head Chef.
  • Handle mise en place (ingredient preparation) such as chopping vegetables, and portioning sauces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen, ensuring all equipment and workstations are sanitized and ready for use.
  • Support in managing kitchen inventory and inform superiors when stock is low.
  • Uphold food safety standards (including proper storage, labeling, and handling practices).
  • Assist with plating and garnishing dishes to meet presentation standards.
  • Comply with kitchen SOPs and follow instructions for kitchen workflow.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Help receive and inspect deliveries for quality and freshness.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning schedules, including dishwashing and waste management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen (experience in Thai or Asian cuisine is a strong advantage).
  • Basic understanding of Thai ingredients, herbs, and spices.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods.
  • Strong hygiene and sanitation habits.
