Position Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the MAB's cost control and expenditure processes. This role focuses on analyzing spending patterns, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring financial efficiency. The manager will develop and implement strategies to optimize expenditures, improve budgeting accuracy, and provide insightful financial reporting to senior management.
Key Accountability
- Monitor and analyze all company expenditures to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for cost reduction, develop and implement strategies to reduce operational costs and improve profitability
- Investigate and explain significant variances between budgeted and actual costs, conduct industry benchmarking to compare the company's cost structure with competitors and identify areas for improvement, ensure accurate allocation of costs to appropriate cost centers and projects, oversee inventory costing and control to minimize waste and optimize inventory levels .
- Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts, monitor budget performance and provide regular reports on variances and trends, develop accurate and timely financial forecasts based on historical data and market trends, assist in the evaluation and management of capital expenditure proposals.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports on cost performance, expenditure trends, and cost-saving initiatives, analyze financial data to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to management, respond to ad hoc requests for financial information and analysis from senior management.
- Develop and implement company-wide expense policies and procedures to ensure compliance and control, collaborate with procurement teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing practices, establish and maintain strong internal controls to prevent fraud and errors, ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Lead and mentor a team of cost analysts or FBPs, collaborate with other departments, such as operations, procurement, and sales, to ensure alignment on cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications and Years of Experience
- Degree in Accounting/Finance and or Professional Qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, MIA etc)
- 7 to 10 years experience in Accounting/Finance or in the related field.
Areas of Experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with financial reporting systems/ SAP
